Scope
As a result of significant progress of fabrication technologies, RE-123 coated conductor is now available commercially on an industrial scale with lengths of several 100’s of meters as well as Bi-2223 tape. Significant progress has been also made in fabrication and understanding of MgB2 and Fe-based superconductors. Based on these forefront superconducting materials, developments of proto type devices are accelerated. However, challenges remain to improve material properties such as the overall in-field current carrying capability and spatial homogeneity for full scale applications. The objective of this symposium is to provide a forum for researchers to present their latest results, enabling in-depth technical discussion and significant exchange of knowledge in superconducting forefront materials and applications to accelerate open-innovations in the superconducting technologies. The development and status of materials and applications, and issues for these applications will be addressed.
